Problem statement
Which open-source SLAM or VIO stack fits my sensors, compute and flight profile?
Audience and prerequisites
UAV autonomy engineers and robotics researchers evaluating localization options
Layered technology path
Visual-inertial estimation
Monocular/stereo visual-inertial odometry systems for UAV state estimation.
Required
Selection: Editorial review of official repositories
Full SLAM libraries
Libraries that combine visual or LiDAR odometry with mapping and loop closure.
Required
Selection: Editorial review of official repositories
UAV system integration
UAV-oriented state estimation and autonomy stacks that bundle SLAM/VIO with control.
Required
Selection: Editorial review of official repository
Validation sequence
- Record each system's sensor input, license and maintenance status.
- Run each estimator on its documented dataset before hardware work.
- Verify compute footprint against your onboard hardware before adoption.
Known boundaries
- Simulation and dataset results are not flight hardware validation.
- This collection indexes repositories; it does not certify airworthiness or compatibility of any combination.
- Sensor assumptions differ; a SLAM system tuned for LiDAR is not interchangeable with a visual one.
